The 47th General Chapter of the Passionist Congregation begins this Saturday

4th October 2018

The General Chapter of the Passionists is an international meeting of its members drawn from the sixty-three countries in which it is represented. General Chapters take place every six years and the theme of this Chapter is “Renewing our Mission”, held in Rome from 6th-27th October.

The Chapter will aim to review, evaluate, plan for the future and elect leadership to guide the Congregation forward until 2024. The Chapter will also mark the beginning of the celebrations of the 300th Anniversary of the founding of the Congregation in 1720 by St. Paul of the Cross. These celebrations will include the unveiling of a new icon of St. Paul of the Cross and the first screening of a film about his life.

During the Chapter the Passionists will have a special audience with Pope Francis, spending an hour in his company and getting the opportunity to greet him personally.

Much of the Chapter will be devoted to planning for the future as the Congregation looks to renew its mission in light of the demands and challenges it faces in the twenty-first century.

Please keep us in your prayers during October.
